Industrial Internet and the rise of cross-cutting Digital Platforms

Industrial cross-cutting platforms allow actors across value chains and sectors to use and benefit from industrial internet markets. A variety of such platforms exists and shapes an ecosystem to ensure that any industry in Europe, large or small, in whatever location and regardless of industrial sector can fully benefit from digital innovation – the main mission of the Digitising European Industry initiative (DEI).
The implementation of the DEI initiative is being supported by working groups, one of which targets digital industrial platforms across value chains in all sectors of the economy. This working group should ensure the integration of the various activities and the involvement of the Member States, regions and industry
This session will discuss the opportunities and challenges of industrial platforms in selected vertical sectors, such as agriculture, healthcare and manufacturing and will explore the extent to which it could apply to other sectors of the industrial internet such as heavy equipment & machinery, transport and logistics. Some of the speakers were involved in the activities of the working group on industrial platforms and will report on the achieved results.
